Putaruru Primary School's Ki o Rahi Project.
Room C2 at Putaruru Primary under the guidance of their teacher Fraser Quinn, were introduced to the Māori game ki o rahi and they loved it so much they decided to create their own ki o rahi field. They undertook an inquiry into the building of a ki o rahi field in their school grounds. Visit the class blog to see how they documented their progress.
The students visited local marae to hear their stories which were translated into art works and carving on the seven pou on the field with the help of a local artist. For more detail on the stories from each marae and how they relate to the children's artwork and the pou on the ki-o-rahi field click the marae links at the top of the class blog.
